I will try my best to keep this list of countries that require travel insurance to be constantly updated; however, please exercise due diligence as well to confirm any changes in entry requirements as they are changing quite a lot nowadays.
Your destination’s travel requirements are definitely one of the many concerns that you probably have whenever you are planning for an upcoming trip, and among such prerequisites, you are probably wondering if travel insurance is mandatory.
After all, a country’s reasons for requiring travel insurance might be because of a diplomatic concern (such as between the USA and Cuba), an immigration rule (like the Schengen Area’s visa conditions), or a medical regulation (especially in response to the recent COVID-19 pandemic).
…But at the very core, you should ALWAYS have travel insurance for your travels!
Nevertheless, I recognize the fact that sometimes, a country has a specific insurance requirement that must be met. So in order to help save you time and effort, I have compiled this list of countries that require travel insurance along with their distinct standards for entry.
Looking for COVID Travel Insurance?
A lot of countries currently require everyone to have COVID travel insurance and you can take your pick between SafetyWing (cheapest coverage) or HeyMondo (a more comprehensive coverage — and if you click this link you can get a 5% discount).
Please make sure to read the fine print of their policies to ensure that you are covered for your specific needs. To see a detailed comparison table of these two providers, click here.
