Energize and Feed Your Adventures with CLIF Bar!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Clif Bar & Company for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

A lot of you know by now that when I travel, I always make it a point to do a lot of activities and adrenaline-pumping adventures like cycling, helicopter rides, hiking, mountaineering, paragliding, and yoga among many others. Naturally, these kinds of experiences take a lot of energy on my part so I’m always on the hunt for the best energy bar out there. Today however, I managed to finally found it! The icing to the cake? It’s organic! I now introduce to you the brand of: CLIF Bar.

And as you can see, if you’re into peanut butter like I do, they have a Nut Butter Filled Bar type to satiate your taste buds.

» What is CLIF Bar?

A family-owned company from the USA, CLIF Bar believes in the idea of how happy and healthy people create the best food — and as it is, that’s exactly who they are.

It all started when the company founder, Gary Erickson, realized that he couldn’t eat yet another unappetizing energy bike during a 175-mile bike ride he was doing. So starting in the year 1991, he started to make a better tasting bar which is what CLIF Bar is today!

Organic Energy Bar

Lately, the athletes and foodies in the CLIF kitchen came up with a new kind of energy bar, the CLIF Nut Butter Filled Bar that brings together 2 great things: a delicious creamy nut butter (comprised ofpeanut, hazelnut or almond butters) inside an organic energy bar that is low glycemic.

The best part? It’s non-GMO too! Something that I now aim to make sure as a characteristic of any kind of energy bar that I take — or any kind of food for that matter.

You might be thinking: what does this mean? What’s GMO?

Well basically, GMOs are organisms that have been genetically engineered with DNA from bacteria, viruses, or other plants or animals. In simple words: it’s NOT ‘natural’. They’re man-made and done in lab experiments! For example, some GMO corn and soybean varieties have their DNA altered to make them resistant to chemical herbicides or to produce their own pesticides.

That being said, I highly recommend that you avoid anything that has GMO in it. After all, studies have also shown that GMO crops lead to increased use of toxic chemicals, herbicides, and pesticides in conventional farming. This does not only pollute our environment but also increases the risk of toxin exposure to the public (more so for that farming communities).

Clearly, this toxic way of agriculture is harmful and unsustainable, and it’s one of CLIF Bar’s beliefs that we can and must do better! This is why their energy bar is non-GMO.
